Last Friday Australia's Extreme Weather Heroes were warmly welcomed by the Australian Governor General Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce AC and His Excellency Mr Michael Bryce, AM, AE to celebrate youth leadership in confronting severe weather impacts of a warming planet.

The event held at Government House was part of the 10th National Business Leaders Forum on Sustainable Development and included attendees from a select group of business leaders who came together to discuss the pressing need to foster a generational shift in Australia's world class emergency volunteer base.

This exclusive event celebrated the contributions of the Extreme Weather Heroes, young emergency volunteers from the SES, Red Cross and Rural Fire Service and offered leading businesses practical opportunities to address this major national challenge.

In addition to this, Minister for Environment Peter Garrett also attended the event and was deeply inspired by this younger generation of volunteers and expressed his sincere interest in the Extreme Weather Heroes initiative.
