Meet Ruby Haouchar, an Extreme Weather Hero.

The Footscray SES volunteer of almost seven years is one of five Australians chosen to spearhead a national recruitment drive in the fight against climate change.

Ms Haouchar is logging on to Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites to recruit 200 000 young people to joining emergency response groups.

The national campaign in being run by Brisbane based organisation Green Cross Australia to try to increase the manpower available to emergency groups when natural disasters strike.
