The second annual Extreme Weather Heroes Summit was held in the beautiful Gold Coast hinterland on the 30-31st January.
The weekend brought together young emergency service volunteers and leaders from around Australia from agencies such as Australian Red Cross, State Emergency Serivce, Rural Fire Service, Surf Life Saving Queensland and St John Ambulance.
Experts from media, social networking, climate science and emergency management fields were bought together for intense sessions discussing the future of emergency volunteering.
Special thanks goes to the Hon. Ron Clarke: Gold Coast Mayor, Blair Palese: 350.org, Pete Williams: Delloite Digital, Ryan McAllister: CSIRO, Margaret Lipinska: Zeroseven, who all gave up their weekend pro-bono to share their expertise.
The Summit was funded by The Ian Potter Foundation, Emergency Managment Queensland and Brisbane City Council - we are grateful for their support.

About Extreme Weather Heroes
The EWH program aims to use social networks to enable young emergency volunteer leaders to reach out to many thousands of young Australians to encourage them to get skilled and get involved in volunteering for the emergency services.
As we prepare for the growing severe weather predicted by climate scientists, our goal is to inspire 20,000 people under the age of 30 to become active volunteers with one of Australia's eighteen emergency response agencies over the next three years.
In less than one year of going live, the www.extremeweatherheroes.org network has achieved over 50,000 page views from 115 nations.
Five new Extreme Weather Heroes have joined the Team already this year... check them out.
We need your help to keep doing great work - donate to Green Cross Australia to support our projects.
